LX v Worcestershire Over 50's

Worcestershire Over 50s 7 LX Club 1
Although LX put out a good side on paper they met an extremely powerful Worcesteshire side ( foolishly selected by the LX Match manger !), at Stourport,and whose pace and movement particularly from midfield at times gave LX a torrid time. In what was a high quality match LX were 3-0 down inside twenty minutes. However moving Neil Stone to the midfield certainly strengthened that department and Brian Stokes settled in really well alongside Mark Watson at full back.
LX did begin to forge their own attacks in open play and occasionally at penalty corners.The score remained unchanged to half time and LX continued to have much more of the play in the second half but Worecestershire's finishing was clinical and they added a further two goals before LX finally scored. A penalty corner had gone astray but the hard working Dave Durrans collected it , fed it back to Mark Watson whose shot was saved but not cleared and Rod Cochrane cleverly deflected into goal.As LX tired in the searing heat Worcestershire ran out worthy winners, even if the final score did flatter them.
The two sides retired to the bar to replace lost fluid on a regular basis and 33 participants then enjoyed an excellent lunch. In conclusion The LX match manager thanked the splendid umpires, the catering staff and the Stourport club for hosting the fixture.
All involved were enthusiastic for the fixture to remain firmly in the LX calendar.
