LX v
Worcester
at Worcester on 14th October 2007
As is normal at
Worcester we had a very close game but as in previous years we seem unable to
come out on top. It was a very close end to end game with the home team winning
2-1. Both sets of defenders working well together making for a big contest in
the middle of the park. Worcester scored first mid way through the first half, a
ball across the dee found for once the unmarked left wing Garth Davis who
slotted in an easy ball. The score remained the same into the second half until
Ray Jeff picked up a loose ball in the dee and sloted the ball home to equal the
score. The pattern of the game remained the same with both sides getting plenty
of play but not many chances short corners were in short supply but Worcester
gained a penalty from a foot defending one and Geoff Ball gave Mike Fripp little
chance low into the left corner. The score remained the same despite LX winning
3 short corners towards the end. Over all it had been a very good team effort
but at the end of the day the slightly younger legs of Worcester got the edge.
The day ended
with a very nice lunch at the Swan at Whittenham cooked by the son of Worcesters
full back John Ranscombe. We all took the the time to wish Maurice Williams
happy birthday.
