LX CLUB v Reading Vets

Reading Veterans welcomed an LX team to their water based pitch at Sonning Lane on a dull, damp morning and were quickly in control. Fielding a slightly younger side, even though they had three LX Members, Ada Robertson, John Miller & Keith Hunt (who was celebrating his 70th birthday) + five over 60’s, they were two up at half time.

LX came back strongly in the second half and thanks to goals by Tony Henman (from a very acute angle) and one from Rainer Vogt, levelled the scores. However their legs began to tire and Reading scored twice in the last 15 minutes winning the game 4:2.

The game was played in a very competitive but friendly way and afterwards both teams enjoyed hospitality at Keith & Elaine’s home.
